Yoga for adrenal fatigue: Restorative Yoga For Beginners

Battling adrenal issues myself, I’ve found yoga for adrenal fatigue to be one of the more helpful practices around. While it’s easy to over exert oneself with other workouts while battling adrenal issues, this restorative yoga for beginners (and practiced yogis alike!) will help renew your energy and encourage your body to fully rest.

Hey friend, I’m Lumalia, a certified yoga teacher, connection architecture here at Celebrate Again. I strongly believe that life is meant to be lived to the fullest, even when your body is fighting hard for you.

Ready to dive in? This yoga flow is a short 20-minute yoga for adrenal fatigue and can help you step deeper into relaxation and give you some refreshed energy. We’ll use the power of what we already possess: our breath!

Yoga for Adrenal Fatigue Tips

My Story With Restorative Yoga

emmy resting in a hammock after practicing yoga for adrenal fatigue

Having battled chronic illnesses myself, my adrenals are always taxed. With such an adventurous heart, I’d be the last person to want to do restorative yoga. But then I got so sick I could barely leave my house. During this time, I craved movement, any movement. But all movement usually left me symptomatic and worse. It was then I discovered restorative yoga.

I learned that the methodical processes of yoga for adrenal fatigue with restorative yoga postures really helped bring energy and prana (life force) to areas of my body that may have been cut off from my new sedentary lifestyle. My body didn’t need just any movement, it needed specific movement, opening up areas of my body that had been shut off. This is exactly what restorative yoga will do for adrenal fatigue.

You may be surprised to find that after this class you might have more energy or be able to sleep a lot better. While I wish I was a scientist to explain to you why this works, I cannot. However, I can share that from my personal experience, restorative yoga will change how you rest and how you view yoga.

What You'll Need Yoga Bolster & Blocks

While I love this notion to make yoga accessible for everyone, restorative yoga is really best done with a yoga bolster and at least two yoga blocks. If you don’t have either of these tools at your disposal, practicing the postures on the edge of a couch or chair can work too. But if you’d like to save this video for later and order your own yoga bolster, here are some of my favorites, handmade from Etsy store owners.

I love cork yoga blocks because of how eco friendly they are and they’re less prone to slip or shift during practice. You can find a cork yoga block here on Etsy with free shipping.

Why Etsy Over Amazon? I love supporting small businesses like myself and hand made products. You can always find places with free shipping too.

Yoga for Adrenal Fatigue Props & Poses

In this yoga for adrenal fatigue flow, you’ll find that you’ll need a yoga bolster and some yoga blocks. If you don’t have a bolster, you can use an edge of a couch or chair, but a bolster is going to be vital if you find restorative yoga beneficial for your body fighting adrenal fatigue. Scroll down to the pose and I’ll share below how you can modify with what you do have.
  • Supported Reclined Corpse
    • If you don’t have a bolster, you can place one or two pillows under your spine and neck. The key is to be able to let your heart space open up.
  • Supported Side Angle
    • You can replace bolsters and blocks with pillows here.
  • Supported Bound Angle
    • You can grab a chair and place a pillow on it. Place your stacked pillow (folded in half so it’s thicker) under your head to support yourself and wrap your legs in your bound angle around your chair legs.
